This piece was forged and finished by hand in Quebec as a singular expression of an ongoing exploration in form and balance.

It is built for daily use, but carries the intention of lasting far beyond it.

This knife reflects a more deliberate phase of the work — where creativity, choice of material and  process are pushed slightly further.

The blade was shaped and refined by hand, displaying a subtle agencement of 7 layers of steel, with attention given not only to performance, but to the relationship between weight, taper, and movement. The result is a tool that feels composed and assured in use, yet retains the presence of its making.

The handle and saya were carefully made from wood that has been partially decomposed by termites, collected near my home, then stabilized in green dyed resin, and finally drawn in black epoxy. The creative intention was to capture the natural process of nature degrading itself, revealing death as an inherent and ever-present aspect of the natural world.

Natural variation, grain, and subtle irregularities are not corrected — they are preserved as part of the knife’s character.

Like all my work, it is meant to be used regularly. Over time, the surface will shift, the patina will deepen, and the object will carry visible traces of its place in the kitchen.

It is built for daily preparation including vegetables and boneless meat, from large prep sessions to more precise work. Comfortable to use over extended periods and easy to maintain with regular sharpening. It will develop character over time through regular use.
